Governors

What does the Governing Body do?

The Governing Body aims to produce a stimulating, caring and secure educational environment to enable children to achieve their full potential.

The Governing Body meets once each term and is also divided into three Committees, each meeting twice a term.

These Committees are:

Finance and General Purposes Committee - looks after budget, the maintenance of the building, Health and Safety and approves risk assessments for residential trips, outings, etc.

Pupils and Personnel Committee - looks after staffing issues and deals with admissions and exclusions.

Strategic Development Committee - ensures there is provision for a broad curriculum and monitors standards.

How is the Governing Body formed?

The members of the Governing Body serve for four years and are drawn from three different areas.

LA Governors (Local Authority Governors) are chosen by Nottinghamshire LA.

Community Governors are local people with an interest in the welfare and reputation of Rylands Junior School.

Parent and Staff Governors are volunteers who are actively involved with Rylands Junior School by being a parent of a child/children currently attending the school or a member of staff at the school.
